This war memorial consists of a Celtic cross atop of a tapering shaft and a three tiered base all constructed of granite. The memorial is surrounded by an octagonal enclosure formed by a ring of eight roughly hewn granite posts. The base of the memorial bears the names of local men who fell in the Great War and the names of those who fell in World War II. The letters are of lead and are fixed individually into the base. The war memorial is located in St Willow's Churchyard, Lanteglos-by-Fowey.
In 2014 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £206 towards the creation of a condition survey. The memorial was listing therefore the cause of this needed to be established in order to determine what level of works are required.
Funds for the construction of the memorial were raised by public subscription and the memorial was unveiled in 1920. The dedication ceremony involved the Anglican and Wesleyan ministers together with the Chairman of the Parish Council, the headmaster of the Boys school and the memorial was unveiled by the CO of the Coastguard Station in Polruan. The names of the fallen from World War II were added in 1948.
