Nairn war memorial © Highland Council, 2012The Nairn war memorial is located in gardens at the function of Cawdor Street and Milbank Crescent. This sandstone war memorial is comprised of a classical column with a carved ionic capital which includes a thistle, rose and shamrock, surmounting a hexagon plinth. The memorial has a decorative wreath of laurel leaves carved in relief of the fluted pillar. The memorial stands approximately 9m high. Bronze plaques are inset into the plinth of the memorial.

In March 2012, War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £3,570 towards the cost of cleaning of the memorial with soft bristle brushes, water and wooden spatulas to remove organic growth. In addition the defective joints were raked out and repointed with a lime based mortar.
