This war memorial was located in Steeple Congregational Chapel until the building was converted into a private dwelling. Following the building's conversion, the plaque was dismantled and moved into storage. The memorial is inscribed with the names of the members of the Parish who died in active service during the First World War.
In September 2012, War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £837.00 towards the re-location of the memorial into Steeple Church of England Parish Church, where there was a memorial plaque of a similar design. The project included the mounting of the plaque into a grey marble slab to match the design of the existing memorial plaque, fixing the plaque using stainless steel pins and bonding the plaque in resin into the structural brickwork of the church wall to secure its integrity. The plaster surrounding the memorial was made good following these works.
