This war memorial consists of a limestone three-stepped base surmounted by a square stone plinth which is topped with a long cylindrical column and a stone ball. The square plinth contains plaques on three sides, two of which list the names of the men of Denford who lost their lives in World War I. On the stonework above the plaques inscribed lettering on each face of the plinth reads COUNTRY, SACRIFICE, HONOUR and ENDURANCE.
In 2012, War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £849 towards the conservation and repair of the memorial. This included the removal of the plaques for re-painting of the incised lettering and some minor sharpening where letters had become difficult to distinguish. The memorial was then DOFF cleaned and new sections of matching stone were pieced in to replace missing pieces. These were set in place using a lime mortar. The joints were re-pointed using a lime mortar mix to match the colour of the stone. Finally, the iron railings surrounding the memorial were treated using wire brushes to remove the paint and rust traces then re-painted using an anti-corrosion paint.
The war memorial was constructed and unveiled in 1921.
The dedicatory inscription reads:
To the Glory of God and
in honoured memory of our
fellow villagers who fell
and in deep gratitude to
those who served during
the Great War 1914-1919.
"Greater love hath no man".
