Granborough war memorial before grant works © Granborough Parish Council, 2010Granborough war memorial is located in the curtilage of St John the Baptist Church (a Grade II* listed building) which is at the junction of Green End and Marston Road. It is constructed wholly of limestone and consists of a Gothic style cross with tracery style detailing in the angles of each arm that provide the visual effect of a square. The cross rests on the capital of the supporting column that rises from a square plinth atop a two-tiered octagonal base; the whole rests on a brick foundation. The memorial is dedicated to those killed in the First World War.

In 2011, a grant of £1,540 was provided through the Small Grants Scheme towards cleaning and repair works. Cleaning of the memorial was required to be able to undertake repairs and to improve legibility of the inscriptions which were difficult to read due to the biological deposits on the memorial. Cleaning wasDamaged areas of stone to be repaired © Granborough Parish Council, 2010 undertaken by the DOFF steam based cleaning system in conjunction with an ammonia bicarbonate solution and quaternary ammonium biocide applied by non-metallic brushes and sponges. There were a number of damaged stones which were repaired where possible, but more severe damage was repaired with replacement stone to match the original and fixed with stainless steel dowels and lime mortar to match the existing. Re-pointing with lime mortar was undertaken where required, including replacement of cement mortar and an area around the base was excavated and the trench in-filled with pebbles to facilitate drainage.

It was unveiled by Mrs Frederick Verney during a ceremony held on 24th July 1921, the details of which appeared in an article in the 30th July 1921 edition of the Bucks Herald.

The inscriptions on the memorial read:

Their name
liveth
for evermore
in honoured
remembrance
of all who gave
their lives in
the Great War
and especially
of those from
