Cricklade war memorial after work © WMT 2008Cricklade war memorial stands on the High Street in the village in the Cricklade High Street conservation area. The Latin cross is constructed of granite with a bronze wreath on its front face and two bronze plaques carrying names. A small walled enclosure separates the memorial from the street. The site is close to the River Thames and the Thames Path walking route.

In 2008 War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £2,500 towards repairs to the memorial including the stonework and re-pointing. Cleaning was undertaken and repaving to enable improved access to the site.

In 2015 a further grant of £260 was awarded to support the replacement on a like-for-like basis of copings around the memorial.

The memorial was erected following World War 1. It commemorates 32 who died in that conflict and a further 8 names were added after the Second World War. The inscription on the memorial reads:

To our Glorious dead
1914 – 1918
They died that we might live

1939 – 1945

Early images of the memorial show it flanked by a pair of Crimean War cannons. These were removed during World War II.
