Gobowen war memorial © Selattyn and Gobowen PC, 2012In 2012, War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £830.00 for the re-pointing of the joints of the memorial. The existing loose or defective mortar was raked out by hand, and the joints were re-pointed using a lime mortar mix. Any sound mortar was left in situ in order to avoid any unnecessary damage to the memorial.

The memorial was built and dedicated in 1922 by First World War Army Officer General Montgonery of Petre Pant Hall near Gobowen. It was re-dedicated in 1990 following a project to clean the memorial.

The inscriptions read:

To the glory of God
and in ever grateful memory of the men of this district
who gave their lives in the Great War
God proved them and found them worthy of Himself.

Ye have
not died
in vain

There is
a life
in death
