This memorial is a stone square column with orb on top, and towards the top there are bas-relief carvings including a cross. This surmounts a sizable square plinth which has the inscriptions carved in relief and three octagonal steps. The memorial is located on the village green on the junction of Lower and Ashley Roads, near the village hall within Stoke Albany. The memorial is not listed but is located within a conservation area. The memorial is dedicated to those killed in World Wars I and II.
In 2010, War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £425 towards conservation and repair works for the memorial. These included cleaning the memorial with wooden spatulas to remove the large amount of moss on the memorial and in the joints so as to be able to assess the condition of the memorial. The memorial was further cleaned with non-metallic brushes and deionised water and non-ionic detergent to remove any damaging deposits but this level of cleaning also allows for the memorial to retain its patina of age and is not damaging to the stone. All open joints were re-pointed with lime mortar and loose stones around the memorial were re-fitted and bedded again with lime mortar. In some cases pinning of fractured stone was undertaken as well as localised small mortar repairs to avoid water traps. It is important that joints are pointed with an appropriate mortar to ensure that unnecessary ingress of water is not allowed into the structure as this can cause a number of problems.
The memorial was funded by public subscription and built in the 1920s.
