Edale memorial is a sandstone Latin cross surmounting a two-stepped base and plinth. The inscriptions are detailed on metal plaques on the plinth and there are relief carvings at the base of the shaft, including a wreath. The memorial is situated on a raised platform accessed by steps and surrounded by paving and flanking walls. The memorial is located in the Churchyard of Edale Parish Church. It is located within a conservation area and is located within the curtilage of the listed Church.
In 2010 War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £2,367 towards repair works to the paving and steps which the memorial is located on. The joints on the paving, steps and walls were open and the paving had become uneven, making access to the memorial difficult. The steps and platform had also suffered from subsidence. The works were for the tar macadam path to be trimmed to an even line to allow for the top step to be reset to an even line, all existing general paving was re-set on a lime mortar and coarse sand bed and pointed, the steps were re-pointed with lime mortar, and the displaced top steps were re-set. The copings on the side walls were also re-set and open joints re-pointed with lime mortar.
