Winchmore Hill Hall before work © Penn Parish Council, 2006Winchmore Hill has a war memorial hall situated on the common in the village. Tablets are erected on either side of the entrance commemorating the fallen of both World Wars.

The lettering was fading on the tablets and repairs were required to the area around the memorial plaques. A conservation project took place in 2006 to which War Memorials Trust contributed £830. The plaques were cleaned and re-lettering was completed to ensure the names could be read.

The memorial hall was opened by Earl Howe on 27th November 1921. The names of the Second World War fallen were added around 1946. Above the entrance to the hall a wooden beam records the inscription Memorial Hall 1914 - 1918.
