This war memorial is a roll of honour made from painted paper in a wooden glazed frame.
It is located in St Mary the Virgin Church in Fawley, near Henley on Thames.
The main issues with the memorial were that moisture had been getting behind the glass and mould was growing on the paper. War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £407 which went towards removing the paper from the frame, replacing the backing of the paper, inserting a waterproof barrier, and filling woodworm holes in the frame. A high quality digital photo of the war memorial was also put onto a disk for future reference.
It is not known exactly when the roll of honour was made but it was probably around 1921. It is dedicated to those who fell in World War I.
The inscription reads:
"Roll of honour
For King and Country
Parish of Fawley"
"Declaration of war August 4th 1914
Peace signed November 11th 1918 "
