Carlton cross © Carlton cum Willingham Parish Council, 2010This war memorial is a Portland stone Latin cross on a stepped plinth. The base is surrounded by a concrete kerb and flowerbed.

The cross is located in Church Road, Carlton, Cambridgeshire.

The main issue with the memorial was that the inscriptions were illegible due to pollution deposits and because the letter filling material had fallen out. A grant of £474 was offered to clean the memorial with water and soft bristle brushes and fill in the letters with a coloured mortar.

It is not known when the memorial was unveiled or who built it. It is dedicated to those who fell in World War I and II.

The inscription reads:

“Faith unto death

1914 -1918
