North Tuddenham calvary © WMT, 2009The war memorial is a stone calvary which consists of a square base and tapering square plinth which contains the memorial’s incised inscriptions. Surmounting this is a fluted shaft upon which stands the figure of the crucifixion of Christ and pitched top.

The war memorial is located in St Mary’s Churchyard, Dereham.

In 2009, War Memorials Trust gave a grant if £1020 towards the removal of moss by hand with a wooden spatula or another non-abrasive and non-metallic method. The memorial was also cleaned with water and non-metallic bristle brushes. The lettering on the memorial was re-incised by hand to improve the legibility of the inscriptions which we becoming illegible. The cleaning was required to aid the improvement of the legibility of inscriptions, and also to allow for the re-cutting work to take place.
