This war memorial is a Cornish granite obelisk on stepped base. The inscriptions are incised and painted black and gold.
The memorial is located in the High Street of Kirton, Boston, Lincolnshire.
Local research had revealed 16 names which were not on the war memorial from both World Wars. War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £650 for granite blocks to be added with the extra names.
The memorial was built by G. Maile & Sons of London. The dedication ceremony was held on 12th November 1922 and the obelisk was unveiled by Sir Archibald Weigall. He was Governor of South Australia 1920-1922 and also unveiled many war memorials there.
The inscription reads:
In
grateful
and glorious memory
of the men of Kirton
who gave their lives
for King and Country
in the Great Wars
1914 - 1918
1939 - 1945
