The war memorial in the Somerset village of Chipstable is the lychgate to All Saints church. It is an oak-framed structure standing on a stone wall, and has a slate-tiled roof. The gates are half-height oak with fine metal straps and bolts and cross pieces in the bottom four openings of each gate. A band of iron above the gate commemorates the fallen of 1914 – 1918.
In 2006/7 English Heritage and the Wolfson Foundation gave £460 towards replacing parts of the gates that had decayed and cleaning and re-painting the metalwork on the gates.
The iron band above the memorial reads
"In memoriam 1914 – 1918"
A brass plaque inside the church on the north wall of the nave lists the individual men.
The gates were built by a local builder, Mr Pring, and dedicated in 1919 or 1920.
