Holingbourne war memorial after work © Hollingbourne Parish Council, 2007Hollingbourne war memorial is a granite Celtic cross on a three tiered base. It stands on the main road near the Primary School.

The local community, through the Friends of Hollingbourne War Memorial, had undertaken conservation work on the memorial following damage caused by a falling tree. Alongside this work research unearthered the names of additional service personnel from the village who the community wished to add to the memorial. War Memorials Trust contributed £800 for the addition of two granite wedges which carried the 24 names in a style to match the original.

In addition to the research already carried out the group are continuing to investigate the histories of all those commemorated on the memorial to provide details about them.

Dedicated on 15th April 1922 the memorial was built by Vaughn and Sons of Maidstone.

The memorial inscription reads:

Sacred to the memory of
the men of this Parish
who gave their lives for their country
through the Great War 1914-1918

1939-1945
