The Minster Lovell war memorial cross stands on the main road running through the village. The stone cross was moved in 2006 to this site. Originally it was sited on the B4047, 75 yards outside the village boundary. Isolated due to changes in the road layout in th 1960's it suffered from vandalism and neglect; surrounded by rubbish and little visited. In May 2003 the Parish Council conducted a Village Survey which revealed support for a project to move the memorial to a more central site in the village.
In 2006 War Memorials Trust contributed £1,500 to a project to move the memorial to a new site on the main road junction in the village. The memorial was erected in an enclosed area and trees planted around the site. The original and new site are shown below.
In 2008 a further grant was awarded for conservation work on the war memorial. This included re-pointing with lime mortar, re-cutting of lettering where necessary (to be done with hand tools) and cleaning.
The memorial cross was designed by Mr F. E. Howard of Oxford and designed by Messrs Coppock and Goodgame at Headington Quarry. The cross was dedicated in May 1921.
The inscription reads:
To the glory of God and in memory of the men of Minster Lovell
who gave their lives for their country in the Great War.
