The World War I memorial at Park Community School in Barnstaple, north Devon, is a sports pavilion. It is a single storey timber framed structure on masonry piers, with a pitched roof. An open porch runs along the front of the building.
In June 2006 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £1500 towards the costs of works to strengthen the foundations of the pavilion, replace rotten boarding and rotten wood around the windows and to repaint the whole pavilion.
The pavilion was opened in 1922 as a memorial to the boys of Barnstaple Grammar School who fell in the Great War. The plaque on the pavilion reads
War Memorial Pavilion
Opened May 1922
The roll of honour that was originally in the pavilion was moved into the school building at the beginning of the twenty first century to prevent damage by damp.
