Tallarn Green war memorial before conservation and repair works © The Willington Worthenbury Community Council, 2007Tallarn Green war memorial is a sandstone Celtic style Latin wheel cross with decorative detailing on the shaft and arms of the cross. The cross surmounts a plinth and three-stepped octagonal base. The inscriptions for the memorial are detailed on plaques attached to the plinth. The memorial is located between the village Church and Methodist Chapel on a roadside location and is enclosed by railings. The memorial commemorates those killed in World War I and World War II.

Tallarn Green war memorial after re-pointing and cleaning © The Willington Worthenbury Community Council, 2009In 2007, War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £344 towards conservation and repair works to the memorial. These works included cleaning stonework with a masonry biocide; failing mortar was raked out and re-pointed with a lime mortar to match the original in colour, texture, and strength; weeds and old mortar were removed from the concrete base and concrete mortar was used to re-point the concrete base. It is planned that the railings surrounding the memorial will be re-painted at a later date.
