This war memorial is in the form of a large granite Latin cross with inscriptions cut and painted into the surface.
The cross is located in the grounds of All Saints Church, Birchington-on-Sea.
War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £550.00 for the repainting of the inscriptions with black enamel paint to improve their legibility as they were becoming indistinct and difficult to read.
This war memorial was unveiled in March 1920 by Lord Harris. It is dedicated to those from Birchington and Acol who fell in both World War I and World War II.
The main inscription on the World War II plaques read:
To the glory of God and in hallowed memory
of the men of Birchington and Acol
who fell in the Second World War
These tablets were erected by
The Mayor Aldermen and Burgesses
of the Borough of Margate
