Orleton war memorial is a stone Celtic style Latin wheel cross, it has a cross carved into the stone on the main shaft and arms of the cross. The cross surmounts a two-stepped base into which the inscriptions for the memorial are incised and painted. The memorial is located on a corner site on Millbrook Way and is surrounded by a wall, railings, and a gate; the memorial is accessed by steps. The memorial commemorates those killed in World War I and World War II.
In 2009, War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £379 towards conservation works to the memorial which included cleaning with water and non-metallic brushes, and ethoxylated alcohol based detergent which was appropriate for use in this case. Works were also carried out to improve the legibility of the inscriptions on the memorial; this included the re-incising of the lettering by hand where required, and the re-painting of the lettering as original. A parish historian identified a name which had been omitted, and this was also added to the memorial in a style to match the existing names on the memorial.
In 2017 a grant of £3,640 was awarded from the War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme for steam cleaning the memorial to make the inscription legible and repainting the inscription with black paint, repointing the walls with lime mortar, repair of the damaged capping stones and adjustment to railings adjoining them and repair of failing render. SmartWater was applied to the metal railings and gate as a condition of the grant.
The memorial was constructed after World War I.
