Bolton war memorial roll of honour ©Bolton Museums and Archives Service, 2009This memorial is a World War I paper roll of honour for the ‘Bolton Corporation Sewage Department’. The roll of honour has pen and ink illustrations and is glazed in an oak frame. Photographs accompany the names of those commemorated.

It is in the possession of Bolton Museum & Archive Service and is to be displayed in Bolton Town Hall.

War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £68 for improvements to the glazing of the memorial. The memorial was fitted with laminated safety glass that has a 99% UV filter. This means that the roll of honour will be protected from UV rays and the fading of the detailing on the memorial as this fading is already evident. This glass will also mean that the memorial and members of the public will be protected if the glass were to be broken.
