This war memorial is located in Collywell Bay Road, Seaton Sluice, Northumberland. It is a 20ft high granite Latin cross on a pillar, on a plinth with a 2-stepped stone base. It is surrounded by a low wall and set in a paved area.
In December 2007 War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £625 to remove damaged cement pointing from around the low wall and plinth and replace it with lime mortar. The inscriptions were also cleaned and the letters repainted with black enamel paint.
The inscription reads:
To the memory of our
Glorious dead
And in honour of the men of
Seaton sluice and Old Hartley
Who fell in the Great War
1914-1918
And the World War
1939-1945
It was unveiled in September 1921 by Colonel Pollard. It contains inscriptions of 23 names from the First World War and 27 from the Second World War.
