Whitchurch and Ganarew war memorial before work © Whitchurch and Ganarew Memorial Hall, 2008Whitchurch and Ganarew memorial hall stands in the village of Whitchurch. It is an arts and crafts style hall. Above the entrance door are plaques to the Fallen of both World Wars. Today, the local Remembrance Day Parade commences outside the Hall and the Hall remains an important part of the village and is used by, amongst others, ex-service groups.

In 2008 War Memorials Trust supported works to the Hall to ensure it can continue to operate. Updating an old building can be very costly but it is important that the memorial hall can continue to fulfil the dual purposes of commemoration and practical use envisaged by those who contributed towards its building. A grant of £2,500 helped towards the replacement and upgrading of doors, windows and lighting.

Funding was raised by the local community with local resident Mrs Levett match funding any donations made. It was dedicated by the Lord Bishop of Hereford and Mrs Levett unveiled the memorial tablet.

The memorial hall quickly became a well used facility with billiards and table skittles popular. It also offered dancing classes and weekend dances and operated a library service on a Sunday afternoon.
