The war memorial clock is installed in the church tower of St Michael and All Angels Church in Stockton. Alongside the clock there is a plaque dedicated to the fallen of the Great War.
In 2008 War Memorials Trust supported the costs of installing an automatic winding device for the clock to ensure it fulfilled health and safety requirements. A grant of £1,717 enabled the work to be undertaken in line with the Faculty permission obtained.
The memorial was made in 1920 at a cost of £110-0s-0d. It was installed by John Smith and Sons who also undertook the work to install the automatic winding device in 2008. The original clock was hand wound with a striking mechanism driving to a single skeleton dial.
The inscription on the accompanying plaque reads:
This clock was placed in the church tower in honour of all the men from this parish who served in the Great War 1914 - 1918 and in memory of the following who gave their lives. May they rest in peace.
Below the main inscription are recorded the names of both those who served and those who fell.
