Mentmore war memorial stone © Mentmore Parish Council, 2008This modern memorial is located next to St Mary’s Church, Mentmore, Bedfordshire. It is in the shape of a large rough stone with circular slate plaque in front with inscription. The whole sits on a square brick base. It was designed by Alec Peever.

War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £315 to fund the addition of World War II names at the request of a local resident. The names were inscribed onto a slate in the same style as the main plaque.

The inscription reads

Also those who lost their
lives in the 1939-45 war
Richard Edmunds
Thomas Alves

The main inscription reads: 

To the memory of the men of this village who lost their lives in the 1914 - 1918 war

Followed by the names of the Fallen:

William Bond
James Bull
Percy Fiddler
Ruben Jeffrey
