This memorial is located on Main Street in Stranocum, Country Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is a square column of rough hewn granite with a large lantern on top. It is surrounded by a granite semi-circular wall and with railings in front. Inscription panels on the column are of pink polished marble with white lettering.
War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £1,500 for a number of works which included re-pointing the wall and column, repainting the railings, cleaning and repainting the lantern. Electricity was also installed so that the memorial could be lit up at night.
This memorial was dedicated in 1920. A local newspaper (Northern Constitution) report from the time notes states that funds were raised by local people holding a bazaar at which there was a ‘large and fashionable attendance’.
