Hampstead Town Hall stands on Haverstock Hill. The building is home to a number of war memorials including Boer War memorial which consists of Brass panels with repousse lettering on a wooden frame.
The original Victorian Vestry Hall was erected in 1877; paid for by public subscription. 25 years on an Edwardian extension was added when the Hall became a civic building with the creation of the Borough Council and the building became Hampstead Town Hall. It was closed in 1994 but was reopened in July 2000 following restoration to enable it to function as an arts and media centre; a new community building for a new century.
During the restoration war memorial plaques were conserved. War Memorials Trust contributed £150 to works to build a new wooden frame on which to display the war memorial plaques that commemorate the Fallen of the South African Wars at the turn of the twentieth century. The memorial inscription is dated 1902.
