The Grade II listed Walsoken war memorial is the figure of a rifleman holding his rifle. It stands on a granite plinth upon which are set tablets holding the names of the fallen. The memorial is in the churchyard of All Saints Church, Wisbech.
In 1998 the war memorial was vandalised. The soldier’s rifle had been broken off and a project was undertaken to replace it, make repairs to the memorial and clean it. War Memorials Trust contributed £100 to this work.
In 2018 a second grant of £620 was awarded from the War Memorials Trust grants scheme to clean the memorial using steam, repoint using lime mortar and repaint the lettering.
The memorial was erected by public subscription following the end of the Great War. Every year on the occasions of the Battle of Britain Sunday and Remembrance Sunday an act of Remembrance takes place.
The memorial remembers the fallen of both World Wars and has the dates of the conflicts and names of the Fallen.
