The Salthouse war memorial cross stands in the churchyard of St Nicholas Church. Inscriptions are carved on the plinth upon which the cross rests.
Over the years the memorial had suffered degradation from high winds, sea salt and frost. In particular the names of the 17 villagers were fading away. The raised lettering on the soft limestone plinth had eroded. War Memorials Trust donated £200.00 towards restoring the memorial including the incising of 330 letters of the names of the fallen in a stronger Clipsham stone. This has emant that the original inscriptions were replaced enabling the community to move later names onto the main memorial.
The memorial records fallen from World War I, World War II and Korea.
The inscription on the north side of the plinth read:
To the Glory of God
and in memory of
the men of Salthouse
who gave their lives
during the Great War
1914 - 1918
Their names liveth evermore
Around the remaining three sides were recorded the First World War fallen:

Robert Cobbold
David Cooke
Sydney Dix
Thomas N. Dix
Japer T. Dawson
Edmund P. High
William Hinnells
Brandon Holman

Tablets at the foot of the memorial recorded:

1939 - 1945

Their name liveth for
