Ash war memorial obelisk © Ash-cum-Ridley Parish Council, 2006Ash war memorial obelisk is sanded grey granite with polished inscribed faces. A base plinth supports a rectangular middle section upon which inscriptions are recorded. The World War I inscription faces the road and the Second World War inscription was added to the Eastern face opposite the village hall. The memorial is situated next to the village hall, at the western end of the village on the main road.

The memorial has received multiple grants and the summary details of this record relate to the most recent grant.

In 1998 a conservation project was undertaken which included cleaning and repainting of the lettering. War Memorials Trust gave £75.00 towards this project.

Then, in 2006 Ash-cum-Ridley Parish Council undertook further repairs. The lettering was fading and they wished to arrest this deterioration and ensure the names of all recorded on the memorial could continue to be read. Therefore a project to clean the memorial and painting the lettering was undertaken to which War Memorials Trust contibuted £260.

The photographs show the memorial and close ups of one of the faces before and after work in 2006.
