The memorial in the West Sussex village of Lurgashall, in the South Downs, is a solid three metre tall rough stone Celtic cross on a metre high plinth with sloping sides. The plinth has polished areas on the faces with text in raised lettering. The memorial stands on a paved area in the churchyard of St Laurence’s.
In October 2002 War Memorials Trust gave £500 towards work to clean the memorial, to drill and pin the cracks that were extending down the corners and to re-point those cracks and to rake out and re-point joints in the paving and the memorial.
The inscription on the front of the memorial reads
