Charlwood war memorial cross © Anthony Bradbury, 2010The war memorial in the Surrey village of Charlwood is a plain cross set on moulding above a plinth on a two-stepped base. On the front face of the plinth is carved a laurel wreath in half relief, and below this are inscriptions. The names of the fallen are recorded in lead lettering on the front of the higher base, on a small plaque on the angled face of the lower base, and on the sides of the plinth. The memorial stands in a raised area on a paved base surrounded by a low circular brick wall topped by back iron railings. The memorial is in the churchyard of St Nicholas.

In March 2002 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £250 towards work to clean the memorial, replace damaged or missing lead letters, re-black all the letters, clean out and re-point joints, clean the wall, clean and re-enamel the railings and clean and re-point the paving within the area of the memorial.
