The war memorial in the Sussex village of Ringmer is a medieval-style wheel cross on a slim tapering pillar which stands on a plinth on an octagonal four-stepped base. It is constructed from Bath stone. The plinth is inscribed with the names of the fallen, and the front and back faces of the top step with dedications as well as names. The memorial is surrounded by a chain fence supported by low stone pillars and stands on the village green.
In April 2003 War Memorials Trust gave £250 towards work on the memorial, namely cleaning, repairing where necessary with new stone and selective re-cutting of letters.
The inscription on the front face of the top step reads
Our glorious dead
and on the back face
Their name liveth
For
Evermore
The designer was Mr. D. Kibbler of Ringmer, and the builder Messrs Norman and Burt of Burgess Hill. It was unveiled on Sunday 15th August 1920 by Brigadier-General Frederick Gore Anley and dedicated by Rev George Robson Leefe.
