Thornton Hough war memorial is a Celtic cross on a tall shaft which carries a plaque with an inscription. Three steps lead up to two plinths supporting the memorial. The memorial is constructed of Darley Dale stone with a bronze plaque. It stands on St George's Way next to the Churchyard of All Saints Church.
In 2002, an approach was made to War Memorials Trust for assistance with a conservation project. Instability had been identified. The memorial had to be removed and a new foundation created, using concrete and reinforcing steel, before the memorial was returned to its rightful home. A Small Grants Scheme award of £250 supported this project.
The memorial was unveiled by Lord Leverhulme on 23rd April 1923.
