The memorial in the mid Kent village of Chartham in the North Downs is beside the lychgate of the church of St. Mary’s. It is a rough granite Celtic cross on a plinth with a three-stepped base. A down-pointing sword is carved in relief on the shaft of the cross. Names of the fallen are in raised lead lettering on two polished faces of the plinth. The memorial is enclosed by a low chain fence on three sides and the churchyard wall on the fourth. On three sides of the memorial there are stone planters in front of the step.
In November 2004 War Memorials Trust gave £300 towards the costs of the work to clean and re-point the cross, the plinth and the steps, to repaint raised lead lettering and clean the chain link and repaint it in black Hammerite.
The inscription on the front face of the plinth reads:
