Sharrow Psalter Lane Church Roll of Honour cSt Andrews Psalter Lane Church, 2017St Andrew’s Sharrow war memorial is located at Shirley House (formerly at St Andrew’s Church), Psalter Lane, Sheffield, South Yorkshire. This memorial consists of two marble tablets framed in timber. The inscription painted black commemorates those who died in World War I. It is located in the Nether Edge Conservation Area.

In 2017 a grant of £620 was awarded from War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme towards the construction of a timber frame to hold the plaques in place to replace the missing frame from its previous location.

Sharrow Psalter Lane Church Roll of Honour cSt Andrews Psalter Lane Church, 2018The memorial was constructed in 1920 and the marble plaques were surmounted within oak frames on a marble baptismal font. The Bishop of Sheffield at the consecration referred to this as the only memorial within the boundaries of the city of Sheffield which had taken the entirely fitting character of a baptismal font, spoke of it as symbolic of death, or resurrection, of memory, and membership. He assured those who mourned their dead of the loving and abiding sympathy of all.

Due to problems with the structure of the Church, the baptistery was demolished and the tablets were moved to the east wall, but later the building became unsafe, was closed in 1998 and demolished in 2000. The tablets were put into storage without their wooden frames which were lost.
