Stanley war memorial stone © P. Clarke, 2010A new memorial was created in Stanely Village near Ilkeston in Derbyshire to remember the Wellington Bomber W5795 crew who died when the plane crashed. The crew were on a 'Top Secret' High Altitude Flying Test from Boscombe Down when a mechanical failure caused their plane to crash into a field. A memorial stone has been erected in St Andrew's Churchyard in Stanley Village to commemorate the 5 men lost.

War Memorials Trust gave £200 towards the appeal to install this new grey granite block and base memorial in 2004. It was unveiled at a service on 11th July 2004.
