Cassington war memorial is situated in the Old Rectory, Cassington, Oxfordshire. The three stepped base is surmounted by pedestal, shaft and cross. A figure of Christ is on one side of the cross whilst the Virgin with child are found on the other side. The four sides of the pedestal carry the inscription and names of those who lost their lives in both World Wars. The memorial is enclosed by a metal post and chain link fence.
In 2017, a Professional Advice Grant of £150 was awarded through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme, supported by the First World War Memorials Programme, towards a full condition survey and report. This was undertaken by a conservation-accredited conservator to identify necessary and appropriate conservation and repair works and recommendations which could lead to a further grant application.
In 2018, a further War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme offer of £1,610 assisted practical conservation works. The memorial was cleaned using steam. The construction joints were raked out and repointed in lime mortar. Damaged stone was repaired using indents to match the existing fabric.
