This war memorial is comprised of a small cenotaph with a base and plinth on a square plan, both single stepped, with a chamfered pedestal surmounted by short shaft with a canted top section. On the north-west face of the shaft there is a moulded rectangular inscribed panel. The Second World War dedication is inscribed on the south-east face. The top stage of the memorial is adorned with the relief of a laurel wreath enclosing the letters ‘RIP’ carved in relief at the centre. The memorial faces north-west and stands on a small paved area which is itself set within a triangular-shaped area of land known as The Green in stoke Gifford. The paved area is rectangular on plan and retains seven contemporary fence posts which supported the chains of the low chain link fence (now missing) that formerly surrounded the memorial.

In 2016 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £3,110 towards works to clean the tablet using natural bristle brushes and a mild soap detergent, and localised steam cleaning. Following the cleaning of the tablet, the incised lettering was repaired to match the original design. The base of the memorial had become badly eroded and so loose and cementitious material was removed prior to the re-rendering.

The memorial was erected c.1920.

The inscription reads:
‘Erected / By The Parishioners Of / Stoke Gifford To The / Everlasting Memory Of / The Following Brave / Men Who Fell In The / Great War 1914-1919’ [Names]. ‘To / The Memory Of Those Brave Men / Who Gave Their Lives / 1939-1945’ [Names]
