This war memorial comprises a small wheel cross with tall square tapering chamfered shaft, tapering plinth and three step base. The memorial is set in small square gravelled area enclosed by low concrete slab coping wall. The panels are incised with a dedication inscription and the names of the Fallen of World War. The memorial is located on a small green at the centre of Corston at the junction between Main road and Rodbourne Road.
In 2016 War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £2,100 towards the undertaking of conservation works to clean the memorial using a DOFF steam cleaning. In addition, loose and failing mortar was raked-out from the memorials construction joints which were then repointed using a lime mortar. Lead lettering which had been damaged was repaired, and repairs were carried out to the coping of the surrounding wall.
The works were completed in time for Remembrance Day in 2016.
The inscription on the memorials reads:
1914 The Great War 1918/ Our Glorious Dead/ Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori/ (Names)/ (Front Step) Greater Love Hath No Man Than This/ That He Lay Down His Life For His Friends/ In Honour Of The 64 Men Of Corston &/ Rodbourne Who Served In The Great War.
