The war memorial in the village of Offham, which lies below the North Downs in mid Kent, is found in the churchyard of St. Michael’s Church. The Grade II listed memorial is a stone obelisk on a plinth with a two-stepped base. It is east facing and looks out on to farmland.
In November 2005 War Memorials Trust gave £100 towards payment for adding another name to the memorial, that of J.J. Goodsell, who died in World War II.
The memorial was constructed around 1920. The main inscription on the obelisk reads
All honour
give
to those
who nobly
striving
nobly fell
that we
might live
1914 – 1918
The names of 15 fallen are inscribed on the plinth below.
On the south face of the plinth is the inscription
1939 – 1945
A. Bell
