Huggate before works © War Memorials Trust 2016Huggate war memorial is located at St Mary’s church yard in Huggate, East Riding of Yorkshire. The memorial is a Portland limestone obelisk on a three-stepped stone base. The incised inscription on the plinth is painted black and commemorates those who died in World Wars I and II. The memorial is listed by virtue of being within the curtilage of the Grade I listed church.

In 2016 a grant of £1,050 was awarded through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme towards steam cleaning. In addition, the lettering was re-painted in-line with the historical evidence to make the inscription legible.

Huggate after works © Huggate Parish Council 2016The memorial was constructed by Pate Stonemasons of Driffield, East Yorkshire. It was dedicated on 27th March 1921.
