Windlesham war memorial is located at St John the Baptist Church on Church Road in Windlesham, Surrey. It is a granite celtic cross on a three-stepped plinth, on a square Yorkstone base. The lead lettering inscription on the plinth commemorates those who died in World War I and II. The memorial is in the curtilage of the Grade II listed church within Windlesham Conservation Area.
In 2015, a grant of £1,980 was awarded through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme, supported by First World War Memorials Programme, towards repair and conservation work. The stone was steamed cleaned. Construction joints were re-pointed with lime mortar. The defective paint on the lead lettering was removed where appropriate and lettering was re-painted using appropriate oil based paint in a colour to match the existing lettering. One name was added for a post 1945 conflict with the new letters hand carved in lead to match the same style as the existing lettering - it was also added in the same format of the previous inscriptions to ensure continuity of style. As the overall costs of work were lower than quoted at the beginning of the project the final grant payment was £1,774 as War Memorials Trust pays a percentage of eligible costs.
The original stonemasons to work on the war memorial were W. Wheeler Ltd, London. It was dedicated in 1920 by Dr Randolph, Bishop Suffragan of Guildford, and unveiled by Lady Hermione Ellenborough of Windlesham Court on 25th April 1920.
