Upper Hill war memorial stands in the centre of the village. It is a stone wheel cross on a three-stepped plinth. The shaft of the cross is decorated with an incised sword. The front of the plinth has two recessed faces; the upper carries an inscription to World War I and the lower the names of the fallen. The left side face has a name from 1920 whilst the right side carries the details of a fallen submariner from World War II.
In 2014, War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £420 through the Small Grants Scheme. The works supported included stone cleaning, re-pointing using lime mortar, removal of defective paint from letting and re-painting using an oil based paint (which was appropriate to the original) and repair to the concrete base. The works were completed towards the end of 2015 and due to works costing less than expected a grant of £415 was paid.
Mr William G Storr Barber was the sculptor of the memorial. The inscription reads:
To the glory of God
the giver of victory and
to the undying memory of
the Men of Upper Hill
who laid down their lives
in the great war 1914 – 1919
by their death we live
