Stotfold war memorial after works ©Stotfold Town Council 2015Stotfold memorial is located in the cemetery on Mill Lane and takes the form of a granite obelisk. The memorial is composed of a stepped base, plinth and obelisk. The inscriptions appear on the plinth and base and commemorate the fallen of the First and Second World Wars.

In 2014 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £1,270 towards the conservation of this memorial. The mortar on the memorial was crumbling and in some places missing, so the defective mortar was carefully removed and the joints were re-pointed using an appropriate lime based mortar. In some areas, the gilding of the inscriptions had worn away so the defective finish was removed and the lettering was re-gilded using gold leaf to match the original. The memorial was cleaned using bristle brushes and low pressure water washing.
