Little Comberton war memorial before grant works © Little Comberton Parish Council 2014Little Comberton war memorial is located on Wick Road and takes the form of a memorial stone. The memorial is composed of a base surmounted by a stone in the shape of a scroll. The inscriptions are incised in the stone and painted and commemorate the veterans of the First World War.

In 2014 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £300 towards the conservation of this memorial. The memorial's inscriptions were becoming difficult to read, so the memorial was cleaned using a low pressure steam cleaning system, where necessary individual letters were sharpened by hand and the lettering was re-painted using black enamel paint. The four names of the soldiers who had originally had their names gilded were re-gilded in gold leaf. It is thought that the names that were originally painted black had fought and returned, and the names of the fallen were gilded.Little Comberton war memorial after grant works © Little Comberton Parish Council 2014
