St James Church war memorial is located in the churchyard and takes the form of a cross. The memorial is composed of a three stepped base and Calvary cross. There are bronze plaques fixed to the base of the cross which contain the inscriptions. The memorial is in a conservation area and is dedicated to the fallen of the First and Second World Wars.
In 2014, War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £475 towards the conservation of this memorial. The base needed repairing to ensure stability and prevent further damage. The concrete render from the base of the memorial was removed, taking care not to interfere with the memorial itself. The condition of the engineering bricks beneath were inspected and consolidated or replaced where required, and the concrete render was reapplied to match the colour of the existing, without causing any contamination to the stone of the memorial. SmartWater solution was applied to the metal elements of the memorial.
