Frithelstock war memorial before grant works © Frithelstock Parish Council 2013 Frithelstock war memorial is located on the village green and takes the form of a three stepped base surmounted by a roughhewn plinth and Latin cross. The memorial is dedicated to the fallen of the First and Second World Wars and the inscriptions appear on the plinth and first step of the base. The inscriptions are formed of painted lead lettering.

In 2013 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £1,458 towards improving accessibility to the memorial. Prior to the works taking place, the memorial could be accessed only by a grassy bank which was frequently wet and slippery. Therefore in 2014, the grass bank was excavated and granite steps were placed on concrete pads, then a stone retaining wall was placed either side of the new steps using a locally sourced stone, bedded, and jointed using a lime mortar. Finally galvanised hand rails were added to both sides of the steps and finished with powder coated black paint.Frithelstock war memorial after grant works © Frithelstock Parish Council 2014
