Brackley war memorial before grant works © Brackley Town Council 2014 Brackley war memorial is located in Market Square. The memorial is formed of a three stepped base surmounted by three-tiered column and a cross. The inscriptions are incised in the stone and painted black, and there is a brick wall surrounding the memorial which holds two plaques containing inscriptions. The memorial is dedicated to the fallen of the First and Second World Wars. The inscriptions on the lower part of the column record the theatres of war and battles.

In 2014 War Memorials Trust offered a grant of £1,683 towards cleaning the memorial and restoring the lettering. Some of the inscriptions were becoming illegible, therefore the memorial was cleaned using minimal water and soft non-metallic bristle brushes and the lettering was re-painted using black enamel paint.Brackley war memorial after grant works © Brackley Town Council 2014
